Richard Long , Slate Circle

Slate Circle 1979 by Richard Long born 1945

Long collected these pieces of slate ‘From the source of the River Severn to the summit of Snowdon, 60 miles’, they were laid in a circle drawn out in pencil in this arrangement. This looks quite similar to my porcelain fragmented square although obviously on a much larger scale. Drawing an outline like the in this work is something which i hadn’t considered. Does the boundary change the piece or is it just simply a guide?
